![]() VIER: Where did you record your CD at? BEN: Well, I did some demos into the computer, but we did the CD in Maryland, outside of D.C. at Bryan McTernan’s studio. He’s done some pretty big things like Hot Water Music, and Cave-in. So he squeezed us in between Christmas and New Year. VIER: Do you have other interests other than music and your son that you persue? BEN: Well, I work for the University Of North Carolina. I do multi-media stuff for them. So I’m real interested in film and video and the multi-media stuff on the web. I’m always trying to keep up with the ever changing technology. I do audio editing and video editing, it’s a cool job. There are nice people here, they let me take off for a week or two to play shows. I get my work covered ahead of time and they let me go. It’s not often you find a job like this. I would like to do a web site, but for now I let Brian handle that at Lovitt. But I’m into flash animation so I will be doing a couple of web videos. I would like to do a lot more in the future. |
VIER: Have you tried to do a short film or anything like that? BEN: Yeah, I’ve done a couple. A buddy of mine from Virginia Beach and me did a pilot for television in Harrisonburg, Va. when we both worked at a television station there. So we wrote, filmed and edited it and presented it to the station, but they thought it was too weird. That was a while back, but he just called and said that someone in New York was interested. I better dig out those old scripts, you never know. VIER: Since you’re in other bands, how far do you want to go with this project? BEN: I want to do it for a while, but I don’t have any expectations of how far to take it. I know that usually when you’re in a band you put everything into it and you tend to burn out fast. With the ever changing line-up maybe we can keep it fresh. I want to do as much as I can to get it out there and support it. I just want to keep plying for a while and not get burned out. Thing have seemed to change from like in the days of Hoover, Sleepytime Trio and bands like that, where everyone was doing loud, screaming thing, now it seems a lot of people are doing the quiet thing. So maybe my CD will catch on that trend. ![]() END :-) |
